Artillery Day 2017

What better way to celebrate Artillery Day than to hoist the Artillery flag from the cities and towns in the Lower Mainland where the Artillery has been stationed or deployed in. Quite the grand plan until you consider the logistics of who seek permission from, the best route to manage any cities that do respond and what kind of ambience should the flagraising consist of.
Those points were all covered as the plan unfolded and the available volunteers made themselves known. The "ambience" would consist of vintage vehicles and the dress of the day would be in either matching uniforms or artillery blazers. The response from municipalities in the Lower Mainland was very heartwarming and we decided on splitting our team into two in order to manage them all in a satisfactory timeline. Team one's route included the University of British Columbia, Stanley Park, City of Vancouver and then to Steveston. Team two's route included Boundary Bay Airport, New Westminster City Hall, White Rock City Hall and then meeting up with Team one at Steveston. Of course I can't forget Team three that covered off the Village of Sayward and Yorke Island. The weather was excellent that day and the plan came together nicely.
