11/11/2017 0 Comments Remembrance Day 2017My Remembrance Day was focused on the Gunners of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment RCA who are tasked with firing the 21 Gun salute at Portside Park in commemoration of all those that have died in the service of Canada. Last year we began the tradition of having the "Old Guard" in attendance fall in with the soldiers on parade. the tradition we established was that the Old Guard troop commander on parade would be the oldest Commanding Officer in attendance and the troop Sergeant Major would be the oldest Regimental Sergeant Major in attendance. This year it turned out that I was the oldest Commanding Officer in attendance and I had the honour in commanding the Old Guard on parade. Admittedly, I looked the part as I had just thrown my back out and was walking with the aid of a cane. Fortunately my Regimental Sergeant Major, Brian Cormier, was there to ensure that the Old Guard looked good on parade. Lest we forget!
